How to Prepare for a Retreat

How do I prepare for a Crop-A-Lot?
In order to maximize your cropping time at a Crop-A-Lot, prepare a plan for the pages you hope to accomplish. Arrange your photos in envelopes according to the order you want them in your book. Decide how many pictures you want to include on each page. Once you have a plan, you can then begin to think about your layouts for each page. At Crop-A-Lot, the combined creativity of you and your buddies near you will generate fabulous ideas for your layouts. The Tool Table will also have a library of idea books. When you are really stuck, there will be a whole room full of very qualified people to offer suggestions. Be sure to bring many photos for more pages than you think you will be able to accomplish! You certainly do not want to run out of material to crop!

What should I bring?
Bring as much of your own cropping supplies and equipment as you can carry. You will have 3 feet of personal cropping space, so organize your supplies to be readily available within your reach. Bring comfortable clothing for the length of your stay. If you want to enter the Lady / Sir Crop-A-Lot costume contest, you will need something courtly to wear on Saturday night. If you own a scrapbooking drink holder, bring it! We will have a limited number of Tag-a-longs available for rent. Drinks will be provided in our cropping room, but you may want to bring some of your own favourite snacks. Don't forget to bring your layout contest entries (either original in a protector or color copies) and your completed nametag. Above all, bring a great attitude! Come ready to learn new techniques and to share your own expertise. Come ready to meet new friends. And finally, be prepared for a blast!

At locations which do not have piped in music in the cropping room, we will bring a stereo to play our own CD's throughout the retreat. The information for your retreat will specify if you may bring CD's. Everyone's taste in music is different. If you would like to bring along your favorite CD's of easy-listening style of music, we would be happy to play them. Please make sure that the music is "background-type" music and not something that will distract from cropping. We reserve the right to refuse playing any music.

Can I sit with my friends?
Of course! Just indicate on your registration form the names of your friends. We will have 6 to 8 foot tables (depending on the facility's supply) creating 3' to 4' by 30" work space for 4 to 8 people per table grouping.

Is it safe to leave my supplies in the crop room overnight during a full weekend retreat?
Yes! An overnight employee will watch over croppers', vendors', and company supplies. Should everyone go to bed, the employee will ensure that the room is securely locked. We will do everything in our power to make sure the room is secure, but Crop-A-Lot cannot be held responsible for your belongings.
